Today, I am proud to announce my candidacy for Alexandria City Council.
Alexandria is my home. It’s the city where I’ve chosen to build my life, serve my neighbors, and invest my time in strengthening our community. I’m running because I believe deeply in Alexandria’s potential and because I know we can do better to ensure that everyone who calls this city home can afford to stay, feel safe, and thrive.
My life and career have been grounded in service. Locally, I’ve had the honor of serving our community through public and nonprofit leadership working to lower HIV/AIDS rates across our region, chairing the School Health Advisory Board, supporting small businesses on the West End, and advocating for policies that center people and equity.
Alexandria is at a crossroads. Families are being priced out. Traffic and transportation challenges continue to affect daily life. Our schools, public health systems, and social services need sustained, thoughtful investment. And trust in government depends on leaders who are present, transparent, and willing to listen.
I’m running for City Council to focus on:
-
Housing affordability and stability, so Alexandria remains a city for working families, seniors, and young people, not just the wealthy
-
Smart growth and transportation solutions that reduce congestion and connect our neighborhoods
-
Strong public schools and youth opportunities, including pathways to careers through trades, apprenticeships, and higher education
-
Public health and safety, grounded in compassion, prevention, and community partnership
-
Inclusive, accountable local government that reflects the full diversity of Alexandria and engages residents as partners
I’m running because Alexandria deserves leadership that is thoughtful, responsive, and unafraid to tackle hard problems. I’m running because service has always been my calling. And I’m running because I believe our best days are ahead, if we choose them together.
I ask for your support, your ideas, and your partnership as we work to build an Alexandria that truly works for all.
